I have read as much as I could find on Registry changes for Windows 8. Most of the right-click settings are available in the Right-Click Customization dialog box. I am looking for a push in the right direction as to what might have changed for this not to work.

I am able to use the shell/verb/command entry for ".xls" and ".csv" files in Windows 8 and it works. I have tried manually editing the registry key for the ".dwg" files using shell/verb/command structure and have had no success with ".dwg" in Windows 8. HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AutoCAD.Drawing.20\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\ Our standard approach was to use shellex/ContextMenuHandlers/GUID of the program I am trying to launch on right click. However, I am able to add this verb to Excel files and CSVs in Windows 8. Use the DATA FORMAT command to modify the cell content to any of the formats. To Hide or Show rows If you clear the check box for a row in the mini toolbar or the shortcut menu, the commands in that row do not appear when you exit the customization mode. I have installed multiple versions of AutoCAD on Windows 8 and have not been able to create the action for ".dwg". To remove commands Drag and drop the command outside the mini toolbar or shortcut menu or right-click the command and click Remove. Drag it onto your new double-click action. Find the appropriate command in the bottom-left window. On the right half of the CUI editor, enter the appropriate object name. Name it something like Alignment Properties. I have been able to add this action to the AutoCAD drawing file in previous Windows OS and versions of AutoCAD until Windows 8-8.1. Right-click to add a new double-click action. I do not spend a lot of time in the registry and I am sure there is something small I could possibly be overlooking.

In the next entry in the series, I’ll discuss how to use the CUI editor to create and manage Quick Access toolbars with the CUI editor.I am currently having a problem when it comes to adding a right click context menu verb whenever the user right clicks on a ".dwg" file in Windows 8.
Once the toolbar is visible, or if you already have toolbars showing, you may right-click on a toolbar to see a menu of toolbars to select/turn on. On the Tools menu there is Toolbars, with which you can turn them on and off. the right mouse does not display the drop down context menu. If you have a menu bar in AutoCAD, type in MENUBAR and set it to 1. The CUI editor can also be used to create and manage different Quick Access toolbars. 2 Click/tap on the Make the mouse easier to use link. After the Customize menu closes, the Layer drop-down list should appear to the left of the Customize menu button (see Figure 3). A checkmark is added to the Layer tool and the Customize menu closes. Try opening the CUI editor, go to the 'Shortcut Menus' node, and edit the 'Default Menu.' 'How we think determines what we do, and what we do determines what we get.' Using these techniques are a great way to start customizing the QAT and even the AutoCAD user interface – just keep in mind that the order in which tools appear on the QAT can only be modified using the CUI editor. Sounds like some CUI problem rather than just the right-click customization. You can also control shortcut menus by using the SHORTCUTMENU system variable. Tailoring the tools on the QAT (by adding other tools you frequently use and removing those you don’t) can definitely improve your productivity. A couple of points about getting this working: on my system I used AutoCADs OPTIONS command to make sure the right-click menu gets displayed after a certain delay (I enabled the option from the 'User Preferences' -> 'Right-Click Customization' and then changed the longer click duration to 100 milliseconds, to save a little time. OPTIONS (Command) Find: User Preferences tab > Right-click Customization If you are accustomed to using the right-click method for Enter while a command is active, you might prefer to disable Command shortcut menus from this dialog box. If you insert a separator in the wrong place or want to remove it, right-click over it and choose Remove from Quick Access Toolbar.Ĭoming Up: Going Even Further with the CUI Editor
Right-click over the tool on the QAT after which you want to add a separator and choose Add Separator (as seen in Figure 5). A visual separator appears as a vertical bar.
Tip: Visual separators can be added to the QAT to group related tools, or add breaks between your tools and the standard tools. Removing the Spelling Check tool from the QAT
